At COP 27, the Adaptation Fund presents its 2023-2027 intervention strategy, today in Arabic

On this occasion, the Sahara and Sahel Observatory made a presentation of its climate change adaptation projects, especially those being implemented in the Arabic-speaking countries, namely Djibouti and Sudan.

Using the local language for good communication with the local communities and stakeholders was also put to light.

In her speech, Mrs. Khaoula Jaoui, OSS Climate Department Coordinator, introduced the new initiatives being developed in Arabic-speaking countries such as : Egypt, Mauritania, Chad and Tunisia.

She reminded that these countries give particular attention to the sustainable management of the oases and the reinforcement of their resilience. The sustainable land and water management, natural resources management, food security, the valuation of ecosystem services and the diversification of sources of income in support of the most vulnerable populations' resilience are key topics of the aforementioned projects.
